Russian drone enters Romanian airspace during strikes on Ukraine

On 13 September 2025, during a Russian attack on Ukraine, a Russian drone entered Romanian airspace and Romanian F-16s were scrambled to track it. Bucharest summoned the Russian ambassador and called the incursion unacceptable and irresponsible.
Established by. Romanian Ministry of National Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (summoning of Russia's ambassador, Sept 2025). The North Atlantic Council statement of 23 Sept 2025 names Romania among Allies that 'have also recently experienced airspace violations by Russia'.
Latest. Drone incursions and debris falls on Romanian territory have recurred since 2022 during Russian strikes on Ukraine's Danube region.
