The IAEA brokered the eighth localised ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, from 15 Oct, to repair a damaged backup transformer and strengthen the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant's connection to its sole remaining external power line. Diesel fuel at the plant is running low, with no deliveries since March. The Director General renewed his call for maximum military restraint.“It is essential that steps are taken to increase the volume of diesel fuel available on-site prior to winter.”
